What is the meme?

Everyone’s* favorite annual holiday, Spotify Wrapped Day, brought about the same level of psychoanalysis and criticism as it usually does. (If you need a refresher on last year’s Spotify Wrapped, you can read about it here).

Instead of genres or niche locale matches, Spotify opted for “Your Music Evolution” in an attempt to promote their daylists, leaving out much coveted genre, locational, and playlist data. According to Forbes, some Spotify users even called it “the worst spotify wrapped ever in terms of graphics and data all included.”

Of course, the memes were plentiful. Here are just a few to give you an idea of what was going around the internet.

*Except for Apple Music lovers. We get it, you use Apple Music.

(Did I have over 60,000 minutes of listening time this year?? Maybe. But last year I had over 70,000, so it’s actually an improvement for me).
